Julia Blair knows firsthand the challenges of balancing writing, family, and an outside job. Her most creative fiction always seemed to flow when faced with grad school deadlines. While raising a family of daughters, horses, cats, and dogs, Julia worked as an archaeologist (mad skills at animal bone identification), and as a preservation archivist (often caught sniffing old books in the stacks). She brings a deep appreciation of history and culture to the editing table.
Now, as a developmental editor and story coach, her mission is to help aspiring novelists make the best use of their valuable writing time to create page-turning stories that readers love. She enjoys working with writers of YA and adult fiction. Her specialties are Historical Fiction, Fairy Tales & Mythic Fiction, and Historical Fantasy.
She is the author of a forthcoming Story Grid guide to the War genre, and is elbows-deep in developing a hard-magic system for her own novel, The Nature of Prophecy. She has written several articles for the Story Grid Fundamental Fridays series.
